I finally got round to seeing the ‘Glamour of the Gods: Hollywood Portraits’ exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. It’s only on until the 23rd October but if you can go it’s well worth a visit.

There are 60-70 photos of past Hollywood stars such as Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly (who is the one I’d most liked to have met) all looking very glamorous. There’s also a couple of fascinating ‘behind the scenes’ type shots as well showing how elaborate the setups were and how much retouching was done (a lot!).

It was quite interesting reading the little descriptions with each of the pictures and its one of the few exhibitions I’ve been to that has got me interested in finding out more. I enjoyed it so much I bought the book. The ‘Golden Age’ of Hollywood certainly looks like it’s going to be an interesting topic to read up on!
